The second game of the WSL 3.0 was played between The Duchesses and The Coronations. The Coronations batted first scoring 132 runs, with top performances from Kirstie Thomson and Laura Wolvaardt.

Tazmin Brits was dismissed in the 7th over for 15 runs, bringing Kirstie Thomson to the crease. Laura and Kirstie had a 50+ run partnership before both were dismissed for 61 and 38 respectively.

Laura struggled to get her signature cover drive away to the boundary because of the packed offside field, however, she still managed to play an anchoring knock scoring 61 off 57 balls, with four 4s.

The Duchesses’ Faye Tunnicliffe was looking comfortable out in the middle with a 28-run cameo, until she was dismissed by the 16-year-old leg-spinner Madison Landsman, caught behind brilliantly by Verunissa Reddy.

Sune Luus played a captain’s innings, bringing her 50 up off 45 balls, with four 4s. But she lost her wicket after a fighting 53 off 50 balls courtesy of a delicious middle-stump yorker from Ayabonga Khaka.

The defending champions, The Coronations, ended day 1 with a six-run victory.
