Raynard van Tonder scored his second century of the season, as we wrap up Day 1 of the 5th round of 4-Day Series fixtures.

Knights vs Lions

The 22-year-old held his side’s innings together with another important knock, in a season that has seen him score 85 and 166 in the opening two games.

Since then it has been a couple of rounds of “almosts” with the youngster scoring 47 and 46 in games to follow.

But against the defending champions the Lions, he managed to convert in a big way. His fellow batsmen in the top 6 only contributed 97 runs as a unit. Coming to the crease with his side on 46/1, Van Tonder soldiered on despite losing wickets around him. He scored 23 fours and two sixes.

He finished the day on 180 not out off 226 balls, the Knights ending on 327/6.

Titans vs Dolphins

In the televised games, Proteas openers Aiden Markram and Deal Elgar strung together 116 before the latter lost his wicket for 52. A stubborn Markram fought through as he lost two partners, before losing his wicket for 75 – the top score of the day.
For the Dolphins Ruan de Swardt bowled excellently to finish with figures of 4/41, including the wicket of Markram.

Titans ended on 269/9.

Warriors vs Cobras

The Warriors continued their poor start to the season and were bowled out for a measly 194. George Linde starred for the visitors by taking 4/52.

The Cobras ended on 72/3.
