Rohit Sharma brought up his sixth career century and his third of the series as the Proteas lose momentum in the second session on day one of the third Test in Ranchi, writes Ongama Gcwabe.
The Proteas will be disappointed with how this session has gone.
After ending on 71/3 during the first session, the hosts have been able to operate at 4 runs an over thanks to some loose bowling from the South African bowlers.

Sharma has continued to punish Dane Piedt’s slow spin bowling as they took their partnership to 134 runs at tea.
Rabada has bowled 10.4 overs worth of dot-balls, Lungi has 8.5 overs worth of dots while Nortje has 10.2 overs worth of dots, but they are bowling at an economy of over 3.2 runs an over. This is an indication of a disappointing session for the big quicks.
Sharma brought up his third ton of the series while Rahane cruised to 74* by tea.
India ended the session 205/3 after 52 overs.
The teams came out briefly for the third session but bad light stopped play with India on 224/3.
