Rohit Sharma ended session 1 just a run away from a double ton on day two of the 3rd Test in Ranchi while George Linde picked up his maiden Test wicket, writes Khalid Mohidin.

India continued to push themselves closer to a big innings total. They scored 133 runs at a run rate of 4.93.

Sharma took himself to the brink of a maiden double century but walked into lunch on 199.

Ajinkya Rahane managed to score 115, but his wicket handed the Proteas the best moment of the session for them.

George Linde dismissed Rahane finding big bounce and turn outside off stump and he feathered it to Heinrich Klaasen for his maiden catch behind the stumps.

India went into to Lunch on 357/4 after 85 overs.

After two wickets were taken by India’s opening seamers, the umpires pulled the players off for bad light, with the visitors on 9/2.
