Who are the South Africa U19 players on show at the CSA T20 Provincial T20 competition?
Cricket South Africa has given the perfect opportunity for Cricket Fanatics to identify the stars of tomorrow.
The CSA Provincial T20 competition will give these young stars a chance to express their ability against some of the best talent in the country.
This will also be a chance for them to persuade Mzansi Super League franchises to pick them up as their ‘Wild Card’ signing or ‘Rookie Signing’.
Here are the list of SA U19 talents on display at the tournament.
Bryce Parsons (Central Gauteng Lions)
The 18-year-old is a talented spinning all-rounder. Predominantly a top-order batsman, he is regarded as one of South Africa’s most promising talents. Having captained SA U19, he has a mature mentality and leadership ability that could hold Gauteng’s side together.
Tiaan van Vuuren (Eastern Province)
The 18-year-old seaming all-rounder can take confidence from having already played two senior first-class games and one List A game for Eastern Province. With two first-class wickets to his name, it is now time for him to prove his worth at the senior T20 level.
Khanya Cotani (North West)
The wicketkeeper-batsman has five first-class games to his name and one half-century. He has also made his List A debut too. For SA U19, the youngster played in all seven matches against Pakistan. It is now time for him to prove his batting quality against the senior guys at T20 level.
Achille Cloete (Boland)
The 18-year-old speedster took Khaya Majola Week by storm in 2017/18. As a relatively unknown 16-year-old, he startled many players with his raw pace and accuracy. This earned SA Schools selection and he became a regular in the SA U19 side. He will be a key bowler for his province.
Jarred Jardine (Northerns)
The young seamer that gets the ball to move quickly off the deck and tends to keep its speed. He will be an exciting young talent to keep an eye on during this tournament. He impressed at CSA Cubs week with eight wickets in four games with best figures of 4-45.
Lifa Ntanzi (KwaZulu-Natal Coastal)
The 18-year-old’s raw pace shocked many at last year’s Coke Week. He has a lethal inswinging delivery and has dangerous control over his line and length which seemed to trouble a lot of players at the U19 level. He has yet to prove his capabilities against the more senior players and this tournament will be the perfect opportunity to unleash him.
Siya Plaatjie (Western Province)
The young speedster is not the quickest on the scene, but he has amazing control. He may prove to be a key bowler for his province, especially in the T20 format, where batsmen may be fooled by his pace and attempt to go after him. He somewhat went under the radar at last year’s Coke Week, but those who did watch him in action were aware of his maturity and unique skill level.
Pheko Moletsane (Free State)
The St Andrews spinner-all-rounder had one major season for his province at Coke Week, taking 14 wickets in 2017/18 as a 16-year-old. He has been grafting away at U19 level for his province and for his school but will look to make an impact for his province this season. He will be entering a tournament that is made for him, it will now be all about his application.
Andrew Louw (Northern Cape
The right-hand batsman and right-arm off-spinner can be useful for his side. Primarily a batsman, the youngster can be remembered for scoring over 750 runs before Coke Week 2017/18 that included league games. He scored two centuries that year, one in the Northern Cape trials and the other in a T20 match.
