We take a look at the Proteas who performed well in the IPL 2023 from 13-14 April.
During Thursday’s game between the Punjab Kings and the Gujarat Titans, Kagiso Rabada (PBKS) got his 100th wicket in the IPL. The premier Proteas quick reached the milestone in the fewest games (64), eclipsing Lasith Malinga’s record (70).
This was followed up by a brilliant 50 (2 fours, 5 sixes) from Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram on Friday against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens.
Harry Brook was the star of the show with an unbeaten 100 – the first century in this year’s IPL – but Markram stepped on the gas early on in the 3rd-wicket partnership with his spin hitting.
Heinrich Klaasen made a cameo 16 from 6 to end the innings in style.
KKR would fall short by 23, and Marco Jansen struck with two early blows, dismissing Venkatesh Iyer and Sunil Narine in consecutive deliveries. His 2-37 in 4 overs were one of the relatively more economical figures in this high-scoring blockbuster.
