Nadine de Klerk is starting to show her all-round capabilities as well as her natural ability as a leader.

The Proteas Women all-rounder has had an impressive run for the national side, but mainly impressing with the ball. The right-arm medium pacer took eight wickets in her last eight matches.

Her T20I record, in particular, has been superb, where she managed six wickets at an average of 19.16 in 11 games.

Although her average with the bat in T20Is is 42.25 in 11 matches, she has yet to hit a milestone in T20s or ODIs.

Playing in the SA Emerging series against Bangladesh Emerging, De Klerk showed her batting impetus by hitting a 41-ball half-century. She also took 2-27.

The 19-year-old, who is also captaining the side, led by example as she helped the SA Emerging side claim a 47-run victory in the opening match of their three-match ODI series.

It will be interesting to see how the young cricketer develops and if she can keep up the intensity throughout the tour.

Regardless of whether she does or doesn’t, she remains an exciting prospect for the future.
