Richard Levi’s half-century was key to WP Blitz’ six-wicket win against the Rocks in Gqeberha, as they started their CSA T20 Challenge off with a bang.

Having lost Kyle Verreynne and Zubayr Hamza to the Proteas Test team, and David Bedingham to Durham in England, the WP Blitz called upon Veterans Richard Levi and Dane Vilas to add experience to the squad.

Richard Levi played a big part in his return, hitting his 35th T20 half-century.

Levi, 34, hit 67 runs off 39 balls. His 9 fours and 3 sixes showed the WP supporters that he still has a lot to offer for the team in this format.

He helped the side past the 100-run mark and put them in a strong position to complete the chase after the Rocks posted 142/6 (20 overs).

The platform set by Levi, saw WP Blitz claim a victory with balls to spare, Aviwe Magijma’s 17-ball 26 was key to the successful chase. He hit two sixes and a four to help his team remain in front.

George Linde, who took his time to join the party, hit his first six on his 19th ball faced and ended with 20 off 21 balls (1 four and 1 six), which included a boundary to win it.

Levi’s calmness at the top of the order will give WP a lot of confidence for the rest of the tournament, particularly after completing a comfortable six-wicket win in their opening game with 3 overs to spare.
