Kyle Verreynne backed up his Test selection with a stubborn 97 on day 2 of Round 5 of the 4-Day Franchise Series, while Raynard van Tonder stole headlines again by completing a franchise double ton.

KNIGHTS VS LIONS

The 22-year-old held his side’s innings together with another important knock, in a season that has seen him score 85 and 166 in the opening two games.

Since then it has been a couple of rounds of “almosts” with the youngster scoring 47 and 46 in games to follow.

But against the defending champions the Lions, he managed to convert in a big way. He converted his 180 from the day before and managed to finish on 200 off 261 balls (25 fours and 2 sixes).

The Knights finished on 472. With 2 wickets each from Lutho Sipamla, Wiaan Mulder and Tladi Bokako.

The Lions ended the day on 91/2.

WARRIORS VS COBRAS

The Warriors continued their poor start to the season and were bowled out for a measly 194. George Linde starred for the visitors by taking 4/52.

The Cobras ended Day 1 on 72/3 and managed to score 255 after Kyle Verreynne top-scored with 97 off 177 balls (20 fours), characteristically digging his side out of trouble. George was unlucky to go out at 49, to add to his four-for the day before.

Jon-Jon Smuts finished 3/40 in 16.4 overs. Marco Jansen also picked up 3/60 in 20 overs.

Warriors will resume day 3 on 124/2.
