“I’m glad I could contribute to the team,” said Proteas all-rounder, Dwaine Pretorius, after making a significant contribution to Proteas’ six-wicket win over Pakistan to level the three-match series 1-1.
Having registered figures of 5/17 in four overs, Pretorius’ effort helped limit Pakistan to 144/7 at the end of 20 overs.
South Africa completed their chase within 16.2 overs, with ReezaHendricks and Pite van Biljon contributing with useful 40s.
Explaining the effectiveness of the bowling performance, Pretorius said, “We learned lessons from the previous game.
Rizwan hurt us quite a bit. We went back to the drawing board, revised a few plans as a bowling unit.” The key to bowling well, Pretorius said, is “making sure the batter doesn’t know which ball is coming.”
With the batting coming under heavy criticism over the last few years, Pretorius said the batting unit had been putting together reasonably good performances. “It’s about losing one or two overs very badly,” said Pretorius.
