IPL 2021 began with a close encounter between the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, which RCB won by two wickets. Electing to field first, RCB restricted MI to 159/9, after it appeared at one stage that MI would have crossed 170.

RCB’s star performer today was South African legend, AB de Villiers, whose 48 off 27, including four boundaries and two sixes, was key to RCB winning today.

Young Mumbai Indians debutant, Marco Jansen, finished with impressive figures of 2/28 in his four overs. These numbers are particularly impressive, given he conceded 13 runs in his first over. To give just 15 runs and take two wickets in his remaining three overs was a stupendous effort from Jansen.

Jansen was entrusted with defending six runs in the last over, and he almost pulled it off, with RCB only winning off the last ball of the innings.
