The Proteas posted 188/6 after two half-centuries from Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen in the 1st T20I against Pakistan.

Having won the toss and chosen to bat first at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, South Africa registered

South Africa’s intent was clear from ball one as openers Janneman Malan and Aiden Markram were looking to put Pakistan’s bowlers on the backfoot. Malan hit 24 off 16 balls, while Markram registered a fantastic 51 off 32 balls.

The most impressive parts of their innings were in the ways they attacked Shaheen Shah Afridi, to the degree that his economy rate in his first spell was over 12 runs an over.

Captain, Heinrich Klaasen, registered a fantastic 50 off 24 balls. Klaasen’s innings was crucial because he and Markram never let the run-rate drop after South Africa lost Malan and Wihaan Libbe in quick succession.

Pite van Biljon also contributed with a handy 34 off 24 balls. During his partnership with Klaasen, it appeared as if South Africa would have crossed 200 fairly easily.

Phehlukwayo hit a massive six on the last ball to take the Proteas to 188/6.
