Cricket South Africa’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dr Jacques Faul and Interim Director of Cricket, Graeme Smith addressed members of the media on Tuesday morning regarding various matters, including the recent domestic restructuring and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the national cricket landscape.
They also addressed the issue of transformation which has been a major topic last season especially in franchise cricket.
“We still have the EPG we have to adhere to, it’s an agreement we’ve got with the Minister of Sport. It’s something that gets monitored quite closely,” said Faul.
“There is a debate for merit selection and also there is a strong debate for targets. It’s something we as CSA has always said we will encourage it.”
Faul also went on to address that they are in talks with a potential sponsor as Standard Bank won’t be renewing their contract which expires on the 1st of April 2020.
“We’ve been negotiating with the Titans sponsor to take over from Standard Bank. Standard Bank at this stage are not coming back.”
