Rain affected the 1st T20I between the Proteas and the West Indies with the visitors winning by 3 wickets.

A planned 14:00 start ended up being delayed till 16:00 with the allotted overs reduced to 11 overs. 

The Proteas struggled to get going, losing wickets at a regular time. They were 79-6 before Miller truly got destructive. 

A quick-fire 48 off 22 balls by David Miller in the middle of the innings helped the Proteas fight back from 61-5 to post 131/8 in their allotted 11 overs.

He hit four 4s and three 6s before losing his wicket four balls into the 11th over. SA were 126-7. 

Magala was handy too with two 6s and a four for his 18 while Reeza Hendricks contributed upfront with 21 off 12 balls. 

Bjorn Was smacked for two 6s and a four in his first over but managed to get his usual opening-over wicket. 

Windies took themselves to 34 after two overs after being 17-1. 

Magala came in to the attack in over three and struck immediately, reducing the visitors to 34-2. 

After the Powerplay the Windies were 46-2. 

The Windies batters continued to attack, and took themselves to 66 in 4.2 overs 

Nortje got a wicket after being hit for four but also travelled for six in the same over as the batters continued to find the boundary with ease despite losing wickets. 

Johnson Charles hit 28 off 14 balls (1 four, 3 sixes) but Shamsi removed him thanks to a brilliant catch on the boundary from Nortje in the 6th over. 

The West Indies brought up a 100 in 7.4 overs. 

Fortuin went for 25 runs in the 8th over. 

Shepherd was run out on the 1st ball of the 9th. 

The visitors needed 20 runs off 17 balls. 

Despite a four from Odean Smith, Magala dismissed him with 12 runs needed off 10. 

Magala took another, the Windies needing 12 off 8. 

Eight was needed of the final over. 

Rovman Powell was key to his side’s victory hitting a six with four deliveries left, and finished the game with a single. Powell scored 43 off 18 balls (1 four and 5 sixes) to claim a 3-wicket win.
