The JSK skipper took his side over the line against DSG with a marvellous century in front of a packed crowd at the Wanderers.

After a slow start in the power play, which saw Du Plessis and Reeza Hendricks score 41 runs, the pair continued to grow to pick up momentum as the game went along.

They put on a marvellous partnership of 157 in 16.3 overs, which mainly consisted of Hendricks watching on from the non-striker’s end.

Du Plessis hit an incredible 8 fours and 8 sixes for his 113 off 58 balls, his half-century coming in the 12th over, after hitting Jason Holder for two sixes and a four. It came off 33 deliveries.

Hendricks joined the party after striking at just over 60, with a couple of boundaries of his own, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes, before losing his wickets on 45 off 46 balls.

The wicket of Donovan Ferreira fell shortly thereafter, but that didn’t dampen the Faf show.

The JSK skipper powered his side forward and he hit a six with 5 balls remaining to claim an 8-wicket win for his side.

DSG, who batted first, struggled to score runs, but still managed to put 178 on the board, the average score at the Bullring.

Matthew Breetzke and Heinrich Klaasen were responsible for laying the foundation with their 75-run partnership, but the former lost his wicket at a crucial time, after 24-ball 28.

Klaasen was destructive. He scored 65 off 48 balls with 7 fours but lost his wicket just shy of the final over. A quick 12-ball 28 from Jason Holder got DSG to 178/6.

Special mention must go to Gerald Coetzee who took 3-21 and Maheesh Theekshana who took 3-30 for JSK
