It’s been another clinical performance from the VKB Knights, with the young players taking the initiative and stepping up to the plate.

Raynard van Tonder’s masterclass set the tone, and an all-round show from Migael Pretorius was quite the highlight, too. A half-century at No 9 from Migael Pretorius helped add 106 runs for the 8th wicket. The early momentum for van Tonder further exemplifies his readiness for taking center stage.

Alfred Mothoa shone with the ball, successfully prying open the Dolphins’ middle order and claiming the big wickets of Grant Roelofsen, Marcus Ackerman, Khaya Zondo, and Senuran Muthusamy.

For the Dolphins, rookie all-rounder Ruan de Swardt was the silver lining – he showed impressive resistance with a well-made 46 and a couple of late-order wickets, but it’s been a largely forgettable outing today for the visitors.

Knights 424 in 129.4 overs (van Tonder 166, M Pretorius 62 – de Swardt 2-39)
Dolphins 162 in 42.5 overs (de Swardt 46 – Mothoa 4-35, M Pretorius 3-50)

LIONS VS COBRAS

Following an eventful opening day, the Cobras have pulled things back to limit the damage in a rain-hit affair.

Opener Dominic Hendricks has looked superb in his long stay, and has batted responsibly to remain unbeaten on 87 with his team having 3 wickets in hand. The Cobras bowlers have all taken at least one wicket, but the standout performer was their newest pace recruit, Ziyaad Abrahams, who claimed the wicket of Temba Bavuma and Dwaine Pretorius, both Proteas regulars.

There’s a chance of rain over the course of the next two days in Johannesburg, but here’s to hoping the game goes to completion.

Cape Cobras 115
Lions 222/7 (D Hendricks 87* – Z Abrahams 2-50)

WARRIORS VS TITANS

The Titans have resumed from where they left off and increased their advantage over the home team. The pacers all chipped in to quickly bundle out the Warriors. Gihahn Cloete compiled an impressive 66, and Smuts scored a handy 40, but Lizaad Williams once again impressed with the ball.

Half-centuries from Proteas stars Dean Elgar and Heinrich Klaasen have effectively propped up the Titans after the rising Glenton Stuurman took two early wickets.

Warriors 231 in 73.5 overs (Cloete 66 – L Williams 4-64)
Titans 151/3 in 48.2 overs (Elgar 66, Klaasen 50* – Stuurman 2-42)
