The Multiply Titans have further bolstered their T20 Challenge unit with a few marquee signings in Kyle Abbott, Simon Harmer and Chris Morris.
With the Momentum One Day Cup almost over, let’s shift the focus to the upcoming CSA T20 Challenge. Since the coronavirus pandemic forced a change in plans, the Mzansi Super League was called off and was superseded by the franchise-level T20 tournament.
Kyle Abbott
Following a 4-year stint as a Kolpak player for Hampshire, the vastly experienced erstwhile Proteas seamer is back at home and ready to continue from where he left off in the franchise circuit, except for a new team. He had a chance to play just the single game in the One Day Cup for the Titans. He last played T20 cricket around 15 months ago, but more importantly, he’s raring to challenge himself and perform. Expect him to be a sure starter, given his international status.
Simon Harmer
Yet another signing that hit the headlines, the offspinning allrounder mentioned that he’s mulling over making an international comeback. It’s quite the pleasant surprise, since he left the international scene fairly early and looked to establish his future in the county circuit. However, it’s a timely turnaround of events, and he’ll bring plenty of momentum to the table, especially on the back of his groundbreaking exploits for Essex in county cricket. In addition, he captained Essex in the Blast and won the tournament two years ago. Whether it’s his accurate bowling or his clean hitting down the order, Harmer will be keen to make a splash in his quest to re-enter the international scene. Finally, it will be a return to his birthplace.

Chris Morris
The aggressive allrounder has been a regular name in several T20 leagues, and there have been question marks as to whether he’s part of the equation for the T20 World Cup in the not-too-distant future, but on a more positive note – he’s back in the mix in South African domestic cricket for his current franchise side. The Proteas are in need of a reliable finisher, and should Morris perform to great effect, there’s every possibility he’ll be in the race. He last turned up for RCB, who recently opted to part ways with him heading into this year’s IPL auction. There’s been the injury worry from time to time, but Morris has the knack of taking wickets, the skilful variations at the death, and the ferocious six-hitting ability to boot!
