“Pretty confident we’ll chase down anything under 300,” said Proteas spinner, George Linde, on Day 3 of the second Test between South Africa and Pakistan in Rawalpindi.

After conceding a 71-run lead to Pakistan, South Africa’s bowlers, particularly George Linde and Keshav Maharaj, triggered a collapse, reducing Pakistan to 129/6.

In the first innings of the Test, Linde suffered a finger injury, prompting the management to get scans to assess the extent of the injury. Fortunately for Linde, who thought he had broken his finger, scans revealed his finger was not broken.

With a minor adjustment to his grip on the ball, Linde showcased his skill in the second innings, taking the key wickets of Azhar Ali, Fawad Alam, and Faheem Ashraf.

“It is quite difficult to get wickets here,” conceded Linde, but “we are hungry to win this Test.” Linde is confident the Proteas batsmen will adapt their game plans to suit the conditions in the second innings. “I’m sure the batsmen have game plans for tomorrow or when we bat next. They’ll take us over the line,” said Linde.

Linde believes anything under 300 can be chased by the Proteas. Ideally, they would like the target to be between 220 and 250, but Linde remains confident that the Proteas have the firepower to chase down anything under 300 in the fourth innings.
