Proteas stars have continued to impress, with the limited-overs left-arm wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi picking up a stellar 5-wicket haul to dismantle the Warriors’ second innings.
Sibonelo Makhanya, the new allrounder for the Titans, scored a respectable half-century, but Shamsi was the player of the day, not only because of his bowling, but also his cameo of 36 down the order.
The home side is struggling, and the Titans should look to wrap up the game fairly quickly tomorrow.
Titans 293 (Klaasen 68, Elgar 66, Makhanya 58 – Nabe 3-54)
Warriors 231 + 97/6 (Breetzke 22 – Shamsi 5/16)
KNIGHTS VS DOLPHINS
The Knights have sustained their domineering advantage over the Dolphins, as a captain’s innings from Pite van Biljon set up a lead of 456.
At the moment, the Dolphins are off to a decent start, but there remains an intense, uphill battle. Sarel Erwee is unbeaten and is building a stand with skipper Marques Ackerman.
Keegan Petersen scored a rapid 48, but his wicket took away some of the crucial momentum. There’s no doubt it’s a massive chase, and the Knights will aim to claim the remaining 8 wickets as early as possible.
Knights 424 + 194/4(d) (van Biljon 93 – Muthusamy 2/19)
Dolphins 162 + 138/2 (Erwee 58* – Kruger 1/18)
LIONS VS COBRAS
A stately, responsible century from Lions opener Dominic Hendricks has placed his side in a comfortable position. The left-hander, unbeaten on 87 at the start of play, went on to record 130 (323 balls, 16 fours) in an innings that lasted over eight hours at the Wanderers. The home side has done little wrong, and three quick inroads towards the end of the day’s play has been the icing on the cake.
The Cobras are still behind by 155, and tomorrow’s goal will be to bat through the day. However, the Lions’ pace attack of Beuran Hendricks, Dwaine Pretorius, and Malusi Siboto have looked formidable and will plan on drawing the drapes.
Cape Cobras 115 + 54/3 (Verreynne 23* – B Hendricks 1/7)
Lions 324 (D Hendricks 130 – N Burger 4/101)
