After a successful ODI series which saw the Proteas beat Pakistan 3-0, Sune Luus is “extremely excited to see what the squad can bring in the T20 series.”

Despite not having Dane van Niekerk and Chloe Tryon, Luus said that it is a big advantage to have players that recently played in T20 competitions around the world.

“We obviously don’t have our powerhouse of Chloe and Dane here with us, but we have some other experience coming through and some other youngsters that can showcase their talent, so we’re extremely excited to see what the squad can bring for the T20 series.”

Tazmin Brits, Anneke Bosch, Faye Tunnicliffe, Sinalo Jafta, are some of the players waiting to showcase what they can do.

In terms of match fitness, Luus stated that the girls are inviting the shorter format, after 3 long, tough days in the field. However, because the girls have been playing all around the world, they should be fit and ready to go for the T20 series.

“With the ODI series behind us the girls have time on their legs, so we should be ready to go.”

Reflecting on the fielding in the ODI series, Luus commented: “We always pride ourselves on our fielding, it was obviously disappointing for us to field the way we did in the first and second ODI.

“That’s something we want to improve on in the T20 series. We are going to need to take the opportunities that come our way; we definitely need to sharpen up on our fielding.”

The T20 series kicks off on Friday at 15:30.
