The Fasken St David’s Marist Time Cricket Festival ended on Sunday with two wins and four draws in the final round of two-day fixtures.

Clifton College ended their weekend on a high note with a 106-run win over St Alban’s. They removed St Alban’s for 157 and 149, respectively in the two innings, with Marco Mottura taking five wickets in the game.

St Stithians were the other winners. They beat Paul Roos Gimnasium by an innings and 53 runs. The victory was set up by their batsmen. Cameron Rowe made 174, Jody de Sousa 51 and Liam Mostert 53, to take their 1st inning total to 360/7, which proved to be too much for the Stellenbosch side. Saints captain Matthew Lieberman took five second half wickets to ensure the victory.

Maritzburg College tailenders Chad Fortmann and Andile Simelane shared an unbeaten 10th wicket stand of 25 and held out for four and a half overs deny St John’s victory. St John’s put up a mammoth 1st innings score of 424/6 with Connor Esterhuizen getting 188 and JP King 131. They asked College to bat again, and the visitors actually went into a three run lead before time was called.

Odirile Modimokoane of the CSA TAP team took 19 wickets over the four days and was named the best bowler at the festival; the best batsman prize went Connor Esterhuizen of St John’s. He scored 260 runs in three innings, including a 188 against Maritzburg College on Saturday. Pheko Moletsane of St Andrew’s was named the player of the tournament. He made 268 runs including 111 and 91 against KES on Sunday, and he took four wickets.
