1st ODI

The South Africa U19 lost the toss and batted first. They posted 145/8 in a reduced 29-over match affected by rain.

The key to their batting innings was their top four, who accumulated 113 runs. SA U9 skipper, David Teegar, was the top scorer with 37 off 32 balls (3 fours, 2 sixes).

They finished their 29 overs with 145/8.

It was with the ball that they impressed the most on the day. Fresh from the South Africa A tour in Sri Lanka, Kwena Maphaka took 4-34 and Liam Alder took 3-31 to help skittle the hosts for 152 to claim a victory by 10 runs (DLS method).

2nd ODI

In the second ODI Bangladesh won by 14 runs.

This time around the hosts opted to bat first and set a total of 268/7. Mohammad Shihab James top scored with 69 off 71 balls (6 fours, 1 six).

Maphaka took 2-59 and Sipho Potsane took 2-42.

The chase from the visitors was highlighted by a brilliant 75 off 93 balls from their captain Teeger. He managed 5 fours and 3 sixes during his knock. The rest of the innings was comprised of good starts, but regular wickets stopped SA U19’s momentum at regular intervals.

They were all out for 254.

3rd ODI

Bangladesh opted to bat first and their innings was mainly set up by a 77 from Chowdhur Md Rizwan and a 66-ball 74 from Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby.

It was Tristan Luus’ 4-60 that stood out to help restrict the hosts to 241/9. SA U19 took regular wickets throughout the match to stay on top of the opposition despite the half-century by Rizwan whose wicket reduced the hosts to 168-7.

Tabby was essential to take the home side past 200, and lost his wicket on the last ball of the reduced 48-over innings with his side on 241.

South Africa managed to chase down the total with an over to spare, to complete a 4-wicket win.

The victory was set up by an impressive 125-run partnership in just under 21 overs. Thebe Gazide Scored 53 from 58 balls and Lhuan-dre Pretorius 66 off 79 balls (5 fours, 3 sixes).

Regular cameos took the Junior Proteas over the line to seal the win and go 2-1 up in the 5-match series.
