Cricket South Africa has decided to split the red-ball and white-ball coaching, with Shukri Conrad taking the Test role and Rob Walter will be white ball coach for the Proteas.

Conrad and Walter have extensive experience in the South African domestic system.

Conrad coached the Lions and Franchises and most recently, he was coach of South Africa’s U-19 team.

In a previous interview with Cricket Fanatics Magazine, Conrad said, “There needs to be a feel-good factor about cricket again. And if we can start developing really hardened, tough, and smart cricketers, then I’ll be really happy.”

Walter was South Africa’s strength and conditioning coach between 2009 and 2013, following which he coached the Titans and the Otago Volts in New Zealand.

On the T20 franchise scene, Walter was involved with the Delhi Daredevils and Pune Warriors India.

Conrad will be Test coach and Walter white-ball coach.
