Ryan Rickelton’s impressive unbeaten 109 from 100 balls (12 fours and 1 six) successfully helped the Lions chase down 222 with a little over 10 overs to spare.

This knock happened only days after the T20I squad to face Pakistan was announced. Rickelton earned his first Proteas call-up, and he’s celebrated the moment with yet another emphatic knock.

He made a name for himself in the Mzansi Super League, where he shone in the inaugural season. Maintaining consistency for the better part of two domestic seasons has, quite fittingly, rewarded him with an opportunity to push for higher honours.

The talented left-hander is known for his clean hitting but also took on the anchor role without much difficulty. As the Lions lost a few wickets at regular intervals, Rickelton superbly batted through to secure the victory.

He hit 12 fours and a six for his 100-ball 109, and was aided by cameos from Wesley Marshall (28), Dominic Hendricks (54) and Nicky van den Bergh (22) along the way.

For the Cobras, Janneman Malan was the star performer with 94-ball 64 (7 fours).

Is an ODI call-up in store for the near future? We shouldn’t be surprised.
