Lungi Ngidi and Keshav Maharaj took wickets in the second session to reduce Pakistan to 178-6 at tea on Day 2 of the 1st Test in Karachi, writes Khalid Mohidin.
Pakistan were in control going into the lunch break.

The Proteas were desperate for a breakthrough and it came from a determined Keshav Maharaj. Azhar Ali’s attempted cut edged a shorter delivery from the spinner to the keeper.
At 121-5, Pakistan had a platform and an in batsman – Fawad Alam – to push on, with Mohammad Rizwan’s reliance crucial to the visitors’ innings.
Fawad scored his half-century in 137 balls, a gutsy performance by the middle-order batter.
Lungi Ngidi was the man to find a wicket, he dismissed Rizwan who pushed at a shorter delivery angled away from him and edged it to Faf du Plessis at first slip, who took a low tidy catch.
Pakistan trailed by 42 at tea with 178-6 on the board.
