We take a look at who ended as top run scorers at the end of the Mzansi Super League 2.0 log fixtures before the playoff.
Ben Dunk
The Australian batsman has been a rock in the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants side and a brilliant partner for youngsters Matthew Breetzke at the top of the order and Marcos Marais in the middle order. He single-handedly took his side to victories with Man of the Match performances. He scored 380 runs in 10 games that included three half-centuries. His 99 not out against the Tshwane Spartans was an indication of his team-first approach when he rotated the strike to give the in-form batter the strike instead of farming the strike to seal the win with a few balls to spare. Let’s see how he fares in the playoff and in the final if his side reaches it.
Janneman Malan
The Cape Town Blitz failed to reach the playoff, which saw Malan end with 358 runs in nine matches. He was a rock at the top of the order for the Blitz and was their stand-out performer with the bat consistently. He managed three half-centuries that included a 99 not out against the Jozi Stars in the opening match of the tournament. The 23-year-old has proved to be a fan favourite for T20 World Cup selection.
Reeza Hendricks
Hendricks was a shining light in what was an embarrassing tournament for the defending champions. He scored 275 runs that included three half-centuries in seven matches with a top score of 80. He proved that there is a place for measured approach in T20 cricket but he struggled to find batting partners that could support the foundations he set up in matches. Hendricks is another fan favourite for selection in the Proteas set up ahead of the T20 World Cup.
