Lions fast bowlers, Lutho Sipamla and Sisanda Magala took 13 wickets between them as Lions beat the Warriors convincingly at St George’s Park Cricket Stadium in Gqeberha.
Two hometown boys, Sipamla and Magala, returned to St George’s Park for the first time in whites playing for the Lions since leaving the friendly city for Johannesburg in 2020.
The duo showed their experience and knowledge of playing at the stadium as they both took six wickets, Sipamla with figures of 6-37 in the first innings and then Magala with figures of 6-28 in the second innings.
The home team was let down by their batters in this game who only scored 96 runs in the first innings and 54 runs in the second innings.
Two spectacular batting collapses left them in all sorts of problems against a bowling unit that is second to none in South African domestic cricket. Only one batter had a double-digit score in the second innings, and that was Sine Qeshile’s 11 runs off 63 deliveries.
The Lions registered a second win of their 4 Day Series campaign and go on top of the Division One table as the team with the most wins so far.
The other round 2 fixtures are currently underway around the country.
