An all-round brilliant performance by the Lions who beat WP by 62 runs to go back-to-back and claim the One-Day Cup trophy in front of their home crowd.

With inclement weather around which delayed the start and threatened to possibly ruin the final, the fans were treated to an epic encounter between the two top teams of the competition.

Throughout the tournament, they’ve had one of the best batting lineups. Once again their batters have stepped up and come to the party when it mattered most.

It was, however, a complete team effort with the bat with the openers getting the home side off to a flyer. Josh Richards (94) and Ryan Rickelton (75) set the perfect platform for the rest of the batters to come in and score freely.

Reeza Hendricks (69), and Mitchell van Buuren (62) added more woes to the WP bowlers and then a little cameo by Evan Jones (30) powered the Lions to a massive 358-5.

The visitors got off to a decent start despite losing an early wicket. Tony de Zorzi (88) continued his brilliant form with an attacking and brilliant knock alongside Eddie Moore (82) to keep their side in with a chance, but wickets kept falling at crucial times which pegged them back a bit. Linde fought at the back end with (40) but ran out of partners.

Reeza Hendricks and performing in a final is a love affair that no one can stop, he scored a brilliant 69 with the bat and picked up 3 vital wickets but the man of the hour with the ball was Lutho Sipamla who picked up career-best figures of 5-71.
