Back-to-back games at the picturesque Newlands meant there was no time to dwell on the previous defeat. A new day, a new team and MICT bounce back and claim a comprehensive 7-wicket victory.

Another batting failure by the Joburg Super Kings but at least they managed to pass the 100-run mark after failing to do so against MICT’s neighbours in Paarl on Friday.

The MICT bowlers were just too strong for the visitors as they removed all of Reeza Hendricks, Janneman Malan and Kyle Verreynne inside the powerplay to restrict them to 34 for 3.

KG started the onslaught followed by Linde who picked up both Malan and Verreynne in the same over.

They struggled their way to 53-4 at the halfway stage but continued to collapse and lose regular wickets as they only managed to score a meagre 105-9.

Leus De Plooy was the top scorer with 21 and the next best was Janneman with 16 on a very sorry-looking scorecard.

The home side’s bowlers put in a clinical bowling performance with skipper Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada and George Linde all picking up two scalps before Brevis entertained the Newlands faithful once again with a magnificent 34-ball 42.

Rassie van der Dussen and Sam Curran were there at the end to see the team over the line.
