Jordan Hermann scored a magnificent century for Sunrisers Eastern Cape against MI Cape Town at Newlands.

The SA20 promised to be a launchpad for young talent, and in Match 8 in front of an electric Newlands crowd, 22-year-old Hermann put his name in lights.

The youngster played with touch and tease as he entertained a crowd that stood up in appreciation, despite their team taking a beating, as he lifted his bat to the away dugout.

The Warriors and SEC youngster hit 106 off 62 balls (8 fours, 6 sixes) at a strike rate of 170.96 and stuck around till the end to see his side post 202/2.

The South African talent in this tournament has been fully on display. This proved true in MI’s reply when Ryan Rickelton brought up yet another milestone. The wicket-keeper batter scored 58 off 33 balls (2 fours, 5 sixes) at a strike rate of 175.75. He was the first wicket to fall with his team on 108 after 9.5 overs.

Ottniel Baartman was another South African in great form. He took 3-45 in his four overs.

MICT put together an exciting chase, but SEC managed to hold their nerve and win by 4 runs.
