As a fan of the game in general, my overarching memory of the heavyweight bout that took place on Tuesday was me feeling a sense of relief that the game of cricket won and benefitted from this feeling of euphoria that I experienced.

First and foremost, as a Pretoria Capitals fan, I know a few of you may make remarks about the next controversial comment I will make.

If I had to compare the experience that I had had on Saturday with the experience that I have had at the Wanderers, I honestly feel that the atmosphere that I experienced at the Bull Ring trumps even some great international cricket memories that I had as a child (specifically watching AB de Villers, then wicketkeeper, and Dale Steyn, the silent swing bowler assassin, demolish Pakistan on a Test tour in 2013).

In terms of a fan’s experience, my over-arching memory of this match will be hearing the song, “Mandoza” blast through the speakers at the Wanderers whilst Leus du Plooy, a recently converted overseas player, hit amazing shots off mid-on for sixes and fours off his magnificent 75 not out.

I thought Reeza Hendricks was extremely unlucky to get out caught, although he played a magnificent 45 runs off 90 balls where he got dismissed playing a risky shot to up his team’s run rate.

As a long-term benefit for Joburg Super Kings, I was also extremely happy to see Sibenelo Makhanya replace the injured Harry Brook in their squad. Aside from the obvious technical ability that a player of his calibre would learn from the coaching of Stephen Flemming and the captaincy of Faf du Plessis, he will ultimately grow into an amazing prospective white ball cricketer.

In terms of my team, also known as the Capitals, I was really impressed with my team’s fast bowler Eathan Bosch. Aside from his decent line and length, I felt that Wayne Parnell was really bold with his field placings (placing a deep cover), and this aided in the dismissal of Faf Du Plessis.

Thank you so much for reading my article and I look forward to hearing your perspectives about tomorrow’s fixture.
