In the second ODI between South Africa and Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, South Africa won the toss and chose to bat. In a rain-curtailed game of 47 overs per team, South Africa posted 283/6

Jaaneman Malan continued his rich vein of form and posted his third hundred off 126 balls.

Malan top-scored with 121 off 135, including nine boundaries and a six. Reeza Hendricks, who was brought in to replace injured captain Temba Bavuma, scored a valuable 51 off 54 balls.

Stand-in wicket-keeper Heinrich Klaasen showed glimpses of his best form in the first ODI, and continued to impress in this innings with a quickfire 43 off 27, comprising four boundaries and a six.

South Africa will be impressed with the manner in which the batting group has adapted to Sri Lankan conditions, particularly in the last 10 overs in which they scored 58 runs.

This was Malan’s third ODI century and it would have given him major confidence seeing that it was in tough conditions. He could have played an even more damaging role later on if it was not for cramps which restricted his movement and running between the wickets.
