Rassie van der Dussen reflects on the India and New Zealand series after 2-1 and 1-1 results respectively.
The Proteas batter said the following on Instagram:
“In the last 3 months, as a Test team, we’ve been in situations that don’t come around often.
“1-0 Down after the first Test at Centurion against India, the headlines and conversations started – ‘India has never won a Test series in South Africa; This is not the South Africa of old; 3-0’, they said.
“After the victory at the Bullring, we closed out the series in Cape Town and with that, we as a team in transition, beat the number 1 team in the world 2-1.
“Record in tact✅
“Then, a few weeks later, 1-0 down to New Zealand after a crushing defeat. – ‘New Zealand has never won a test series against South Africa’
“In almost 100 years of these two teams coming up against each other, never – ‘The record will finally be broken, surely; We’ll take that’ echoed from across the change room corridor as we decided to bat first at Hagley Oval(🤯)
“After 5 days of brutal cricket, we levelled the series against the current World Test Champions 1-1.
