You’ve been asking for it and we finally managed to track him down. Mr 360 himself, AB de Villiers.
I sat in the hotel Foyer nervously waiting for one of the greatest cricketers of all time to arrive from the airport.
It was a tricky situation and an awkward time for De Villiers to accept an interview from me. After all, he went straight from scoring 67 off 37 ball and straight onto a morning flight to get to Cape Town for an afternoon match against the Cape Town Blitz on Sunday.
PLAYER MOMENTS: AB de Villiers lights up SuperSport Park
Before he came, I had organised a room with a decent backdrop to have my conversation with Mr 360, but when I saw him arrive at the hotel straight from the airport, I knew I needed to respect him and what he needed.
De Villiers needed to rest, but on the flip side, I could not waste an opportunity that is so hard to come by. So I quickly scouted around the hotel lobby and found a spot that would be fitting.
I also had to pocket some of the questions I had prepared, so I could make the interview short and to the point, so AB could go to his room and get some well-deserved sleep.
De Villiers revealed how he overcame a rocky start against the Paarl Rocks to score a match-winning 69 in 37 balls.
He also gave some awesome tips to aspiring cricketers, but you’d have to watch the interview to find out what they are.
