Kagiso Rabada believes that the Proteas have picked up invaluable experience after India’s dominant series victory.
The Proteas lost both Tests comprehensively – the first Test by 203 runs and the second Test by an innings and 137 runs.
The second defeat would have hurt a lot more, as the Proteas were completely dominated in all departments.
It is well known that the Proteas are in a transitional phase, this was emphasised by Faf du Plessis, Enoch Nkwe and again by Rabada.

“We are very disappointed,” said Kagiso Rabada ahead of the third Test.
“It’s never nice to lose especially the manner in which we are losing at the moment. We are going through a transition period at the moment in our team.
“Our team is fresh and young so the best thing we can do is look at areas we can improve, but also remember our strengths as a team and to continue to build onto our strengths.
“It’s been a big learning curve so far, but we need to challenge ourselves to execute what we felt we have learnt.
“That’s the challenge of sport, it’s never easy coming to India so it’s a challenge for us to execute our plans and our lessons.”
Although Rabada has consistently improved throughout the series, the manner of the defeat has motivated him to improve his game further.
“This makes me determined to improve,” Rabada added. “We have been put under immense pressure, and I don’t know if we can be put under more pressure than that.
“This pressure can hopefully produce something spectacular in the years to come, looking at our side and how young it is.”
Hopefully, this attitude will rub off on the rest of the players in the side.
“Moving forward we have identified where we have to work and that’s it,” Rabada continued.
“It’s about looking at the bigger picture as a team and where we are going. Unfortunately, it hasn’t started off well, but we are looking at the bigger picture and constantly looking to improve.
“The guys are now naturally in that phase where they are learning about their game, playing in different conditions and also playing international cricket.
“The more experience we get and the lessons we learn along the way, it can only get better for us.”
The Proteas will aim to win the final Test and according to Rabada, that belief is travelling throughout the dressing room.
“The belief makes us such a tight unit. It is necessary and natural,” concluded Rabada.
“It’s just about implementing certain game plans and skills and then we can fire. It’s all invaluable experience.
“Looking forward we know we are representing our country, we are trying our best.
“But we need to apply ourselves a little more based on all the lessons we have learnt, so we can execute and give ourselves the best chance to win.”
