South Africa A settled for a draw against Bangladesh A in the second unofficial Test at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, with the hosts securing the two-match series 1-0.

Bangladesh A captain Towhid Hridoy produced the defining performance of the match, scoring an unbeaten 350 as the visitors responded to South Africa A’s first-innings 512 with 676/8 declared.

After Bangladesh A won the toss and elected to field, South Africa A recovered from the early loss of Tshepang Dithole (4) through Lesego Senokwane and Zubayr Hamza.

The pair added 151 for the second wicket, with Hamza scoring 68 from 104 balls before Senokwane went on to make 111 from 169 deliveries.

Sinethemba Qeshile and Gavin Kaplan then combined for a 221-run fifth-wicket partnership to take South Africa A past 400.

Qeshile top-scored with 128 from 171 balls, striking 16 fours and a six, while Kaplan narrowly missed out on a century with 97 from 128 balls.

Kyle Simmonds added some late impetus with a quickfire 66 from 41 deliveries as South Africa A were bowled out for 512.

Nayeem Hasan claimed 4/132 for Bangladesh A, with Hasan Murad taking 3/142.

South Africa A made early inroads in Bangladesh A’s response and had the visitors 135/4 before Hridoy took control of the contest.

He shared a 151-run partnership with Jaker Ali, who scored 94, before adding another 185 with Mohammad Saifuddin, who contributed 87.

Hridoy batted throughout the remainder of the innings and finished unbeaten on 350 from 481 balls, including 27 fours and 10 sixes.

His innings helped Bangladesh A reach 676/8 before declaring with a first-innings lead of 164 runs.

Simmonds was South Africa A’s leading wicket-taker with 4/239 from 59 overs, while Tshepo Moreki claimed 2/63.

With little time remaining in the match, Senokwane and Dithole safely negotiated 12 overs in South Africa A’s second innings.

The hosts reached 18/0, with Senokwane unbeaten on five and Dithole on nine, before the match ended in a draw.

South Africa A nevertheless completed a 1-0 series victory after winning the opening unofficial Test.
