Dean Elgar and Donovan Ferreira’s record-breaking partnership led the Momentum Multiply Titans to a comfortable six-wicket victory against the Hollywoodbets Dolphins on Wednesday.
Chasing 271, Titans fell into early trouble after the collapse of their openers.
Dolphins skipper, Eathan Bosch (3/56) facilitated the early destruction, dismissing Dewald Brevis for none, Rivaldo Moonsamy with two before trapping Neil Brand (22) lbw in the 11th over.
Ottniel Baartman saw off Sibonelo Makhanya in the following over and Titans slumped to 41/4.
Elgar (100* off 106 (including nine 4s) and Ferreira (138* off 106 with 12 fours and 7 sixes) held their nerve to a record unbeaten 232-run partnership for the fifth wicket to secure victory for the visitors.
Earlier, Dolphins had opted to bat first, with Jason Smith (75), Andile Simelane (41) and Tshepang Dithole (36) as top contributors for the hosts.
An all-round performance from Ferreira (3/53) who dismissed the trio as Titans kept taking crucial wickets at regular intervals to restrict the Dolphins side.
Junior Dala (2/47) caught and bowled Jon Jon Smuts (15) and saw off Bryce Parsons (21) and the hosts posted 270/8 in their allotted 50 Overs.
The CSA 1 Day Cup also continued in Paarl where Gbets Rocks hosted AET Tuskers in Boland Park.
The hosts were put to the bat first as Janneman Malan and Clyde Fortuin, who scored 68 runs each put up an opening stand of 130 runs.
The batting prowess was an all-round effort as contributions from Keegan Petersen (44), Christiaan Jonker (45*), and Ferisco Adams (32) took the hosts to a 306-run target.
Tuskers’ Malcom Nofal and skipper, Michael Erlank took two wickets apiece in the six wickets that fell in the Rocks innings.
In their response, half centuries from Tian Koekemoer (84) , and Alindile Mhletywa (50) were not enough as Tuskers were bowled out for 223 in just under 47 overs.
Hardus Viljoen was the pick of the bowlers, returning 4/25 and Rocks secured a comfortable 80-run win.
In Division 2, visitors, ITEC Knights secured a 30-run win against Limpopo Impalas in Polokwane whilst the Eastern Cape Iinyathi suffered a four-wicket defeat to Mpumalanga Rhinos in White River.
