MI Cape Town’s Dewald Brevis shares his experience with his SA20 team thus far.

What has your experience been playing with Mumbai Indians and now MI Cape Town?

I’m so happy. My blood is blue, and my favourite colour is blue. So, to just be able to be part of this one family, it’s been amazing like the setup everything is absolutely fantastic here in Cape Town, just like it is in Mumbai itself. So, to be part of this family is absolutely amazing.

How do you remain in the zone when you’re playing against and with people that you idolized growing up?

I think I learned that lesson at the IPL. So, fanboy moments were massive for me because I idolised lots of players like for example, Rohit Sharma, Surya Kumar and all those big players.

I was advised by the coaching team not to be overawed and that I belong here. So, for me what helped was I also then had the belief that I belong here, and I absolutely enjoyed playing with these legends, and now I belong here.

How do you relax?

Just relax. I do anything I want to, if I just want to go sit at a restaurant and chill, I’ll do that. If I want to watch a bit of Netflix, I will do that. I basically do anything that I want to, to just relax. Whatever makes me feel I am relaxed that’s what I will do.

What is Dewald’s way of life?

I think in order to become the 1% You must do what the 99% doesn’t do.
