Quinton de Kock’s 96 helped the Proteas get close to the 300-run mark as the West Indies dismissed their visitors for 298 on Day 2 of the 2nd Test.

Day 2 began with South Africa at 218/5. The Proteas lost Wiaan Mulder early for 8 off 39 balls, but Quinton de Kock and Keshav Maharaj rebuilt with a 36-run partnership. 

Quinton de Kock continued his sublime form, with his knock ending on 96 off 162 balls. Keshav Maharaj, who supported de Kock’s effort to get South Africa to a winning first innings total, was dismissed for 12 off 52 balls. 

Kagiso Rabada played a crucial cameo, scoring 21 off 23 runs. 

Kyle Mayers and Kemar Roach were the picks of the West Indian bowlers, with Mayers having dismissed de Kock and Anrich Nortje, in addition to Dean Elgar, and Roach having dismissed Rassie van der Dussen, Wiaan Mulder, and Lungi Ngidi. 

South Africa posted 298 runs in their first innings.
