The Momentum Multiply Titans will have even more representation at the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, after High-Performance Coach Richard Das Neves was appointed as an assistant coach and consultant with Namibia for the tournament.
The appointment is the latest fruit borne out of a budding relationship between the Sky Blues and the Associate nation.
“We’ve formed a close relationship with Cricket Namibia over the past few years and we are happy to support them and witness their growth and development,” Titans Cricket CEO Dr Jacques Faul said.
For Das Neves, the opportunity to work at an international showpiece event will provide great insights, which will ultimately benefit the Titans.
“I’m excited and thrilled at the opportunity to go to a T20 World Cup, and I am delighted to join the Namibia Eagles who have grown immensely in the last two years under former Titan, Pierre De Bruyn,” Das Neves said.
“The experience I will gain will be invaluable and I am grateful to the Titans for allowing me this opportunity,” he added.
The Titans recently concluded a short tour of Namibia, to help the national team step up their preparations for the tournament.
Despite the close relationship, Faul was quick to note that Titans’ loyalties compelled him and the franchise to lean towards the green and gold.
“It’s a wonderful relationship between ourselves and Namibian Cricket, and we have a lot of very good friends in their structures,” Faul smiled.
“But, I think they will understand that our friendship will be only resume properly beyond the T20 World Cup, as we are firmly behind the Proteas’ charge for the trophy!”
