Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed a revised schedule for the Proteas Women’s home tour against India this December, with a three-match T20 International series added to the itinerary as both teams prepare for the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka next February.
The tour will now feature all three international formats, beginning with a historic once-off Test match before moving into a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series and concluding with three T20 Internationals over the festive period.
The Test match will take place at Dafabet St George’s Park in Gqeberha from 9–12 December before the teams meet in the ICC Women’s Championship ODI series in Paarl, Cape Town and Bloemfontein between 16–22 December.
The newly added T20I series will begin with a Boxing Day clash at Willowmoore Park in Benoni before the final two matches are played at the NWC Oval in Potchefstroom on 29 and 30 December.
CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki believes the additional matches will provide ideal preparation ahead of next year’s global tournament.
“We are delighted to confirm the revised schedule for India’s tour of South Africa, with the addition of the T20 International series over the festive period, ensuring our Proteas Women have the best possible preparation ahead of the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka early next year.
“India remain one of the strongest teams in world cricket, and the opportunity to compete against them across all three formats will provide invaluable competition as we continue building towards another major ICC event.”
The series also gives South African supporters the opportunity to watch the Proteas Women take on one of the world’s strongest sides across every format on home soil before another major ICC tournament.
