Pakistan has bagged series wins in the both the short formats, as the Proteas have slumped to a huge defeat in the 3rd ODI at Faisalabad.
South Africa got off to a strong start, with the openers adding 72 for the first wicket. However, the introduction of spin would spell how most of the rest of the innings would go.
After Salman Ali Agha struck to remove Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Quinton de Kock was regularly losing partners at the other end, as legspinner Abrar Ahmed got the better of the inexperienced middle order.
Abrar’s 4-wicket haul created a significant dent, and the Proteas were unable to recover from that point onwards. All 10 wickets fell for a total of 71 runs, as the visitors were knocked out for a measly 143.
Apart from a first-over wicket for Nandre Burger, there was little success for the Proteas bowlers, as Saim Ayub put on a show with boundaries all around the ground.
It took the hosts half of their allotted overs to race to an easy win. While the Proteas had their moments throughout the last six games, they’re left to lick their wounds. However, the return of experienced names should give them a boost next time around.
SA 143 all out in 37.5 overs (de Kock 53, Pretorius 39 – Abrar 10-1-27-4)
PAK 144/3 in 25.1 overs (Saim 77)
