Goldrush Boland kicked off their 2025/26 T20 Challenge campaign with a hard-fought nine-run win over the Renault Potchefstroom North West Dragons at Boland Park on Friday evening.
After being sent in to bat, Boland managed 148/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Clyde Reeves-Fortuin led the way with a composed 49, while Gavin Kaplan added valuable support with 36.
The Dragons’ bowlers kept things tight throughout, with Alfred Mothoa standing out as he claimed three wickets to keep Boland in check.
In reply, Janneman Malan anchored the chase with a patient 50 off 49 balls, but despite his efforts, the Dragons fell short and finished on 139/9.
Boland’s bowlers combined effectively to close out the win. Keith Dudgeon and Imran Manack took three wickets each, while Glenton Stuurman picked up two crucial strikes to seal the result.
Both sides are back in action on Sunday — the Dragons stay in the Western Cape to face World Sports Betting Western Province in Cape Town, while Boland travel to Johannesburg for a clash with the DP World Lions at the Wanderers.
Saturday’s action features the Hollywoodbets Dolphins hosting the newly promoted Moothee Ram Tuskers in a KwaZulu-Natal derby, and the Dafabet Warriors visiting Centurion to take on the Momentum Multiply Titans at SuperSport Park.
The Titans will look to build on their nine-run victory over the Tuskers earlier in the week, while the Warriors aim to get their season underway after their first match against the Dragons was washed out.
