We sum up round 3 of the 4-Day Series, which saw some impressive performances around the country.

Western Province vs Dragons

Beuran Hendricks set the tone for Western Province with a superb five-wicket haul (5/70) that restricted the Eastvaal Renault Dragons to 284 in their first innings. Rubin Hermann stood out for the Dragons with a classy 143. Joshua van Heerden then took control for Province, compiling a patient 139 off 234 balls as his side replied with 405, supported by Jiveshan Pillay (74) and Daniel Smith (69). Hermann continued his fine form with another century (108) in the Dragons’ second innings, but with little support as they were dismissed for 288. Van Heerden (78*) and Smith (55*) guided Western Province to an eight-wicket win, chasing down 173 with ease.


Lions vs Titans

The DP World Lions were clinical in their nine-wicket win over the Momentum Multiply Titans. The hosts posted 368 in their first innings, thanks to contributions from Jorich van Schalkwyk (72), Lesego Senokwane (63), and Rivaldo Moonsamy (58). In reply, Delano Potgieter narrowly missed a century with 99, while Dominic Hendricks (79) and Joshua Richards (54) ensured the Lions reached 386. Siya Plaatjie then ripped through the Titans’ second innings with 5/64, limiting them to 158 and leaving a simple chase. Richards (61) and Hendricks (65*) completed the job as the Lions cruised to 141/1 for victory.

Dolphins vs Tuskers

A run-fest at Kingsmead ended in a draw as both sides showcased batting dominance. Bryce Parsons led the Dolphins’ charge with a career-best 183 from 262 balls, supported by Eathan Bosch (80) and captain Jason Smith (58) in their total of 400. Malcolm Nofal responded with an identical 183 off 344 balls for the Tuskers, steering them to 493/9 declared with help from Kagiso Rapulana (61) and Hardus Viljoen (53). Viljoen then starred with the ball, taking 5/60 to restrict the Dolphins to 239/9 in their second innings before time ran out.

Warriors vs Boland

The Warriors fought hard to draw against Boland at St George’s Park. After being bowled out for 157 thanks to Glenton Stuurman’s 4/43, Boland replied with 274, led by Gavin Kaplan’s 110 and Aviwe Mgijima’s 92. Jordan Hermann (156) and Patrick Kruger (129) then produced a massive 184-run stand to lift the Warriors to 374 in their second innings. Chasing victory, Boland’s Clyde Reeves-Fortuin struck 87, but Matthew Boast (4/55 and 4/64) held firm with the ball to deny them, ensuring the match ended in a draw.
