The 2025/26 CSA 4-Day Domestic Series kicks off this week, with Round 1 set to deliver early drama. The Titans take on Boland, the Warriors face Western Province, and the Dragons host the newly-promoted Tuskers, as all teams chase a strong start to the season.
Warriors vs Western Province – St George’s Park, Gqeberha
The Dafabet Warriors are determined to bounce back after finishing bottom of last season’s 4-Day Series. Head coach Robin Peterson has welcomed fresh seam-bowling options in Gideon Peters, Kerwin Mungroo, Matthew Boast and Wesley Bedja, while retaining a stable batting core. With St George’s Park historically a stronghold, Peterson wants his side to dominate at home and “find a way” through collective strength.
Western Province, meanwhile, are bullish heading into the season. Captain Beuran Hendricks believes they are strong title contenders after finishing fifth last year, and preparation under coach Rory Kleinveldt has been thorough. While national stars like Kyle Verreynne, Tony de Zorzi and David Bedingham will be away for large parts of the season, Hendricks sees this as a chance to develop squad depth. WP want to “throw the first punch” and start strong in Gqeberha.
Boland vs Titans – Boland Park, Paarl
Goldrush Boland are targeting a fast start after finishing fourth last season. Captain Clyde Fortuin is confident his side are well-rounded, with a strong top four and quality spin-seam balance. Shaun von Berg, last season’s leading wicket-taker, and Grant Roelofsen, the third-highest run scorer, will again be central. Fortuin has emphasised the need to be ruthless at home in Paarl, where Boland’s only win — and only loss — came last season.
The Momentum Multiply Titans arrive under new coach Rivash Gobind, determined to go one better after sharing last season’s title with the Lions. Gobind wants his team to play “brave, front-foot cricket” with a balance of X-factor batters and match-turning bowlers. New additions include Lesego Senokwane at the top of the order and the experienced Simon Harmer when available. With a strong record at SuperSport Park, the Titans are aiming to take that winning brand of cricket on the road.
Dragons vs Tuskers – JB Marks Oval, Potchefstroom
The Eastvaal Renault Dragons are searching for their first 4-Day win in over a season after drawing five of seven matches last year. Captain Wihan Lubbe believes the squad is more settled and united, with home form a key focus: “We feel we should be winning our home games in Potch.” With a balanced squad and a culture centred on resilience, the Dragons want to turn consistency into victories.
The Moothee Ram Tuskers return to Division 1 after a dominant, trophy-laden Division 2 campaign. Coach Ahmed Amla has retained the successful core while adding big names Wayne Parnell, Hardus Viljoen and Daryn Dupavillon, plus promising youngsters like SA U19 captain Muhammed Bulbulia. Amla stresses the importance of squad effort and home-ground advantage but is clear about ambition: “The most rewarding trophy is always the 4-Day competition.”
