After securing a convincing first-innings lead, Sri Lanka A have successfully completed a thumping victory against the Proteas A side.
A swashbuckling 98 from Lasith Croospulle as well as a quick 78 from Ramesh Mendis helped drive the hosts to 325 in the first innings. And the Sri Lankan spinners blew away the visitors, with Lakshitha Manasinghe taking 5 wickets. Matthew Breetzke remained unbeaten on 59 amid a free fall.
Sri Lanka made 151 in their second innings, but significant damage had already been dealt. The target was already at 346, and the Proteas had their backs against the wall.
Senuran Muthusamy impressed with a personal-best 12-wicket match haul, but his quality returns were overshadowed by more all-round brilliance by the home team.
In SA’s second innings, there were multiple fluent starts, but no one crossed 30 in what was another underwhelming display with the bat. Tristan Stubbs didn’t show up to bat, as he was unwell.
In the end, they fell short by 160 runs.
