It has been a bittersweet stay in the Western Cape for the travelling Titans, after their convincing win over neighbours Paarl Rocks less than 48 hours ago and getting hammered by WP on Sunday.
It was another blazing bowling performance by the Western Province Blitz. Led by Nandre Burger and George Linde, who both picked up 3 wickets to skittle the Titans out for a meagre total, at a slightly gloomy Six Gun Grill Newlands.
Tony de Zorzi continued his great form and raised his bat once again for his 14th List A half-century and ended on 83 not out to steer WP to a comprehensive fourth consecutive win to extend their lead at the top of the table.
If there’s a door to the national side, then he’s certainly knocking on it and showing what he’s capable of, game after game. With the national side’s lack of runs, he’s definitely putting his name out there.
“I can’t pinpoint one specific thing or two or three specific things, I just think it’s quite nice that we’ve come into the tournament in some sort of form so I’m just trying to ride that wave and or use that momentum because we have a really good side. It’s easy to just play good cricket.
“I think one day cricket is nice if you open the batting because I think it’s a bit of everything so obviously you want to be attacking.
“The ball is going to move around, Junior Dala was getting it to shape, Aya Gqamane as well, everything comes with all sorts of skills and being able to know and identify which skills must be used at which time and I think that’s pretty much it for me.”
