Bangladesh ended Day 2 on 98/4 thanks to four wickets from Simon Harmer, as stumps were called early, once again, owing to bad light conditions in the 1st Test at the Kingsmead in Durban.

South Africa began Day 2 on 233/4 after Bangladesh clawed back to chip away at the Proteas’ batting order on Day 1.

Temba Bavuma, unbeaten on 53, was tasked with guiding South Africa to a dominant first innings total. While Bavuma looked composed, he was losing partners at the other end. Kyle Verreynne departed for 28 off 81 balls, followed by Wiaan Mulder who was dismissed without scoring.

Keshav Maharaj contributed with 19 off 40 balls, but it was Simon Harmer who provided solid support to Bavuma with an unbeaten 38 off 73 deliveries.

Bavuma, who has been waiting to score his second century, having scored his first against England in 2015, was dismissed for 93 off 190 balls.

Yet again, Bavuma produced an important knock when South Africa was in a spot of bother and managed to bail the team out to post a competitive 367 runs in the first innings.
