We asked Lubabalo Skhosana to compile his Division 2 Team of the Week after Round 2 of the 4-Day Series.

This has been the hardest team to pick so far. Not many five-fors just like last week but one more hundred was scored compared to last week. Two draws and one out and out victory.

1 Ernest Kemm – (1 and 121)
After being dismissed for one in the first innings, Ernest bounced back and scored what is now 1 of 3 Division 2 centuries, and set up Northern Cape for a victory over a quality Tuskers side.

2 Yaseen Valli – (86 and 59)

Two back-to-back fifties in the match that included a highest of eighty-six. Perhaps the easiest of all these selections.

3 Michael Erlank – (55 and 4 for 61)
This will probably be a controversial pick hence Erlank is coming in as the coach’s selection this week. Picked up wickets as well in the first round and contributed a little bit with the bat as well.

4 Luke Schlemmer – (63 and 42)
Luke is one of the two batters to have scored a hundred in Round 1 of Div 2 last week and seems to have carried his form into this week as well. Batting slightly out of position for the team of the week this week.

5 Musawenkosi Twala – (125)
A maiden first-class hundred for the youngster sees him also make the team.

6 Thomas Hobson (c) – (102 + 44)
One of the biggest scorers for the week, Thomas Hobson also comes in at 6 for us and leads the side as well.

7 Rivaldo Moonsamy (wk) – (83 + 12, 6 catches + 1 stumping)
A much better week for the Glovemen. It was harder to pick a keeper this week because keepers did well with both gloves and bat but former Northerns and Titans player, Rivaldo came out on top. He put in a significant effort for Northern Cape Heat.

8 Aubrey Swanepoel – (2/65 and 6/16)
Two wickets in the first innings and a match-winning six wickets for sixteen runs! All-rounder, Aubrey Swanepoel had to be our number 8 here considering he can knock the ball around a bit as well.

9 Keith Dudgeon – (3/84 and 3/85)
I know it has only been two matches, but Keith is currently the bowler of the season for me. Bowling heaps of overs at a good pace with accuracy, he has easily been the skipper’s go-to bowler and that is why he is currently the leading wicket-taker. He makes his second appearance in my team of the week.

10 Mondli Khumalo – (4/31 and 2/17)
SA U19 graduate, Mondli Thwala also showed his potential with the ball on debut.

11 Khwezi Gumede – (3/44 and 1/25)

Left-arm fast bowler, Khwezi Gumede brings some variation to the pace attack.
