Aiden Markram scored 161 for South Africa A during their first innings of the 2nd unofficial Test against India A in Mysore.

Chasing India’s mammoth first innings total of 417, the Proteas opener went from ending day two on 83, with South Africa A on 159/5, to scoring 150-plus on day three.

With the help of Wiaan Mulder, who showed why he’s one of the best batting all-rounder prospects in the country by scoring a half-century, the visitor’s recovery was in full swing as they drove past the 270-run mark as they hit 80 overs.

They continued to build an exquisite partnership, a 155-run stand with Mulder’s contribution being 69 runs.

Having taken South Africa A to 298/5, Markram lost his wicket after scoring 161 off 253 balls and included 20 fours and 2 sixes.

This performance will inject the world of confidence into the youngster ahead of the India Test series which kicks off in October.
